A/C REPAIR
RV Air Conditioning Repair — Mobile Service in Stockton & the Central Valley
When your rooftop A/C starts blowing warm in 105° Stockton heat, the trip you planned is over until it's fixed. I come to your RV — driveway, storage lot, or campground — and get the cold air back without you towing anything anywhere. Coleman Mach, Furrion, and Dometic rooftop units are what I work on most.
What I Repair
Common Problems I See
Blowing warm air, fan still runs
Usually a failed run capacitor or a compressor that won't start. I test the capacitor and compressor draw before recommending anything; sometimes it's a $40 part, not a $1,500 unit.
Frozen evaporator coil
Low airflow from a dirty filter or duct leak, or a slightly low charge. Freezing is a symptom, not the problem.
Trips the breaker the second it starts
Compressor short to ground, or a failed soft start. I isolate whether it's the unit or your shore power first.
Thermostat does nothing
Failed control board, bad thermostat, or a broken comms wire. I test the board before selling you a thermostat.

Shroud cracked and rattling
UV-brittled shrouds let the condenser fan pull wrong. Quick replace before it damages the coil fins.
Control boards and thermostats (mechanical and digital)
✓
Runs but barely cools in the afternoon
Coils packed with ag-field dust and cottonwood is the number one cause out here. A deep coil clean often fixes it without parts.
Gasket and shroud replacement

Soft start installs so a generator or 30-amp shore power can run the A/C
Central Valley–Specific Notes
Central Valley summer heat is brutal on rooftop units — 100°+ days mean a marginal A/C fails fast. Add the dust off the ag fields around Lodi, Manteca, and Stockton and condenser coils clog weeks faster than they do in cooler climates. Storage-lot rigs sit in full sun with no shade, so the units cycle harder and capacitors cook. I clean coils down to bare metal and check capacitor values, not just 'does it run.' A soft start install is worth it out here if you run on a generator or 30-amp pedestal.
Can you fix my A/C the same day?
Same-day service is available most days, especially if you call or text early. If I need to order a compressor or full unit, I'll tell you up front and quote the timeline before you commit.
Should I replace the whole unit or just the capacitor?
I test first and quote before I turn a wrench. If the compressor's dead, a new unit makes sense. If it's a capacitor or control board, you're looking at a fraction of that.
Will a soft start let me run two A/Cs on 30-amp power?
A soft start drops the startup surge on one unit so a 30-amp pedestal or smaller generator can handle it. Running two at once on 30 amps still isn't safe, but one with a soft start is realistic.
Do you work on basement (basement-air) systems?
Yes, ducted basement systems and standard rooftop units both.
How the On-Site Visit Works
I show up
01
You call or text, we pick a time, and I drive to where the RV is parked: driveway, storage lot, campground, marina, or roadside.
02
I diagnose and quote
I run the real diagnosis on the spot and give you the price before any work begins. No surprise line items.
03
I repair, usually in one visit
I carry the common parts. Most jobs finish the same day, where the rig sits.
